Question by jason navarrette: What is the argument that says that the recent rapid growth of std's is caused by abstinence-only sex educati

A federal study was released today that said 1 in 4 teens have an STD. There was an argument mentioned that said some people believe this is a result of abstinence-only sex education. Does anyone know what the argument is?

I'm purposely not putting this in the politics section because I hope for serious and objective answers.

I believe that the basis for that is if you teach kids "no sex before marriage", they are not aware of birth control methods like condoms which protect against the transfer of STDs. If they don't know, they won't use them, and STDs will be spread.
